travel insurance? Would a traumatic diaphragmatic hernia which was repaired in 1997, 13 years ago (which was the result of an RTA in 1974) be considered a pre existing condition for travel insurance. Since Feb this year my husband has felt that it may be recurring and he has a hospital appointment in a few days time. In January we took out a travel insurance for a holiday which is in 13 days time,(22nd April) being completely unaware of any symptoms or in fact that a recurrance could be possible (if in fact that is what is happening). We have never declared it for a travel insurance before. My feeling is that the repair 13 years ago was successful and therefore the condition didn't exist otherwise we would have declared it. I realise that it may depend on the insurance company but what do you think is the likelihood of us getting the cost refunded. (£3,000!)
The small print says that a hiatus herna is not considered a pre existing condition but his hernia was more complicated.
