waiting for tablets? Additional Details
I was sent down to the discharge lounge to wait for my son,my tablets and because they needed the bed. I rang my son and said to make his way over and that I was just waiting for tablets, I went down to the lounge at 10:30,my son had an hour's journey and I thought that would be plenty time to sort out my tablets. My son arrived at 12:00 I asked the nurse if there was any news on my tablets, she came back with a 'I dont care' attitude.By 16:00 the nurse came in with my tablets. I was absolutely shocked and mortified to find out that I spent all that time waiting for paracetamol and aspirin. If I had known this I would have left and picked it up from Tescos. My son stayed with me and forked out a fortune on the carpark. Why is it that hospitals cant get their act together with tablets? Why does it take so long to get patients that are clearly ready to go home ready for discharge. Why do hospitals make you feel like second best when it comes to discharge,it's as if your just a burden.
To top it all off,I was seated next to a lady who I later found out was MRSA positive, nasal I believe. I only found this out when the nurse told the hospital transport. I thought patients with MRSA were suppose to be in isolation. If anyone works in a discharge lounge I would like to hear what the purpose of these lounges are or if it's just a dumping ground to get patients off the ward. Out of sight out of mind springs to mind here.
