I would like some constructive criticism on my photography !?

Here are some pictures that I have taken with a Canon Rebel XSI. I'm an aspiring photographer with hope of getting into Ryerson University Image of Arts and I was wondering if i could get some constructive criticism on some of my pictures. Do I have a chance of being successful and being accepted to the school ?

Well, lucky for me, Brooks did not require me to already be a good photographer before I attended, after all that is what attending school is all about.

You have a very formal sense of design.

Here is a site you will enjoy I am sure

Yes i think you take nice pictures. It is obvious you have good lenses and good lighting which is the most imporntant thing. I'm not a professional photographer, but i do think they are nice photos!

nice image i must admit =]...just two comments/questions

1) clearly you boosted the contrast on the image [unless you shot in a sunny day]. A personal artistic choice i hope ? otherwise you have to ask yourself what does it do for the image. if the answer is nothing, than it probably shouldnt be there.

2) i noticed the title "are we all the same?" i know a lot of ppl are naive to believe that the title is really not AS important but its completely false. with that title and the repetition in the image (lines, shapes...) i cant help but think you are trying to make a statement using the identical window frames. if this is your intent, i would suggest returning to the place (if possible) and try shooting farther back to get multiple windows throughout the frame. this will help the viewer connect the meaning quicker.

best wishes for getting in to ryerson ! i myself thought i wasnt "good enough" for AAAD but we are our worst critics. Plus they cant expect you to be professional, otherwise you wouldnt be in school ;]

Cheers,
K
