4.5 years ago. What can I do? The advertiser is claiming that an ad it purchased in April 2005 was cancelled after it had already been paid for. This advertiser, who has been advertising with my newspaper consistently for many years, is just now claiming that a specific ad it paid for 4.5 years ago never ran. My records don't go back this far, nor should the advertiser expect me to have records from that far back.
The advertiser has just now (4.5 years later) reduced its payment amount for a recent advertisement by the amount that it felt it was "owed" for the supposed ad that never ran 4.5 years ago. I am sending the check back and asking for the full amount owed for the recent ad. Are there any refund policy best practices I can use here? Surely businesses don't provide refunds after 4.5 years!
