I have been working at said daycare since July, since I was hired about 5 others have been hired. So I'm about mid-range in seniority. However, recently my hours have been pathetic...about 15 to twenty hours if I'm lucky. When I'm used to getting 30 to 40. My technical job description is sub, and I am the only one...everyone else has set hours. Well the Pre-k teacher took the Thanksgiving week off and as the technical sub I assumed I would take her place this week since I have been scarce hours lately since the managers/owners have over hired. I was mistaken. The afternoon pre-k teacher (who works 2:30 to 6 every weekday) got the hours plus her regular hours....she worked 7:30 am to 6pm with a break. I have very random hours this week that will barely add up to 15 hours since we have Thursday/Friday off. I am pretty upset, pissed even. She has been working for about a month and she is going to get about 30 hours this week, when I (the technical sub who has worked their longer) will barely get any. Is my frustration with this situation justified or am I overreacting? I just feel cheated, and slightly hurt. I know they management (whom I like very much) is having a difficult time balancing everyones' hours, but I don't feel as if it's fair. Do you think I should quit? Talk to them about my lack of hours? I would also like to add that I am a good worker and have never had any complaints. What do you think is up?
