I work at a corp restaurant..having problems with a manager...what do you think of this?

I work as a cook for a corp chain restaurant..tgifridays..i have been there for nearly 5 yrs..I love my job and I am hardworking...I train other employees..well our store has been having ALOT of issues lately we just don't have any leadership with our managers...the store is in chaos and I am really about to be done with the company and move on but I wanted to get some feedback..my kitchen manager is a bully and he just doesn't seem how to do his job, I don't want his job but I wish we could get a good strong leader to take his place...well I called in 2 weeks ago because my dog got hit by a car (I have only called in 3 times in 5 yrs) and the next day when I came into work my coworkers told me the kitchen manager was making jokes about me all night and telling everyone I called in because my dog got hit by a car..they said he was saying"oh my hamster died I can't come in to work" and other comments like that...it was embarrassing and I really am fed up with this type of childish behavior that happens daily...what do I do???
