While it is located under the rear seat which should come up easily by lifting at the bottom/front of the seat, you can also disconnect it at the jump terminal located under the hood(passenger side).
 
Leave it connected. If it is a good battery you will be okay. If you absolutely need to disconnect it, then disconnect the negative cable attachment at the battery. You will need a good quality 5/16 wrench.
 
when you open the hood and locate the battery, you need to get an 8mm wrench and take off the black cable,not the red unless you plan to disconnect both which is not necessary.Once you take it off just tuck it down so it cant make contact with the battery again.
