Take a ship out into the gulf and simply capture thousands of gallons of crude oil. I mean at $75 a barrel, even a relatively small ship, say 150' long (you know, like the ones on Deadliest Catch) should be able to store at least 10,000 gallons (ie $750,000) per trip.

Could BP or anyone else actually prevent you from doing that? If they did, what would the public outcry be?

that would be like...laying claim to the air we breathe.
