I completely understand how the scoring works and it is plain as day to see that the Americans are getting screwed. My girlfriend has been involved with artistic gymnastics her entire life up through college and still works with the UGA gymnastics team so I've become an avid gymnastics fan (I know, )

The commentators during the gymnastic events are pretty unbiased whenever the scoring is fair. However, they really are making some valid observations when they point out some scoring inequalities.

I just think this is hilarious because nobody gave a fuck about swimming until now and you're all wanking over Phelps. And nobody gave a fuck about gymnastics and suddenly everyone is an expert who gets all pussyhurt when their team doesn't win!

The judging is subjective of course, but you can't just base the score off the landing. Just be happy that in 2 weeks everyone will have forgotten the olympics ever happened and we can all STFU until London 2012.

God no. That was the best floor routine of the evening. Shawn actually got better marks than she deserved for her routine. If anything the romanian got low marks. It was perfect execution AND artistry. Shawn's artistry is normally weak, though it was slightly better in that exercise. The romanian acted like a champion during her routine...that is huge and also something that has been lost in recent years. you rarely see the poise and confidence of mary lou retton or nadia anymore.
