I went back to Cupcake - How can I get to 1.6?

Hi Guys

I just recently moved from JF 1.5 to Cyanogen, didn't care for it much, and just decided to go back to the latest Stock, as my wife has never rooted her G1 and it performs nicely.

I followed the steps here:

to get back to Root, and then upgrade to Cupcake

but I'm still on 1.5


Can anyone give me a hand and point to way to get myself up to 1.6?

I did some googling and found 2 links to the Donut 1.6 update:

Unfortunately, I tried the ZIP file on both sites, renamed it to update.zip

and did the home/power ALT-L then ALT-S

and it started to install..

but after "verifying update package"

I kept getting this long error message:

E: Failure at line 2: blah blah blah

installation aborted


and I'd be back at 1.5 again :/

anyone figure out how to get past that error?
 
Sometimes when you rename it update.zip it comes out update.zip.zip. If update.zip didn't work just try update and see how that works. There was a person several days ago having the same problem, he used the link I gave you and he got his phone to 1.6.
 
OK I figured it out-

Thankfully you gave me that AndroidandMe link

I had to use "Method B"

and go through STEP 3 first (Step 3: Upgrade to Android 1.5 CRC1)

once I got myself to CRC1, I was then able to get through the donut 1.6 install

Phwew- I would have never figured it out if you hadnt flowed me that link - thanks!
