i was wondering if they made a gadget like this?

I don't think they have, or will, since a phone can already text.
So there isn't much of a need for it.
But in my opinion the closest thing they have made to that would probably be a pager, since it can only send pages.
But then again it's not that much like it since you can't send text.
I'm sure it could be made though if someone wanted.(:
