I was told my 2001 Honda CRV needs one of the cylinder repaired.?

As I posted my last question, after $500 to repair the engine light I was told that one of the cylinders are damaged and it will cost me around $1400. If that's true I am running on only 3 cylinders. How long can I do that without further damaging the car? Is that a correct estimate to repair the cylinder? Thanks. jacob
