I was late to come to the dot com camera era. My son helped me buy a "starter"...

...camper for about $210.00. It? makes fairly good pictures under most conditions, but not as good as my old Minolta SLR. I want to "up grade" soon. I do not want a camera that is hard to understand. I am not "turned" that way. I just want a really good digital camera that is designed to made really good pictures in 90 per cent of the situations I may be in without being adjusted. In other words, a very good "automatic" digital camera. Any suggestions? What will it cost?

If your Minolta is an auto-focus camera, then there is a chance you can use your lenses on the new Sony alpha DSLR (Sony A350 body only $650)

As you have noticed, there is little room for control you are used to with your Minolta. If you only have one or two lenses, it may be the time to look at the Nikon (the D40 is $400 with lens) and Canon (the XTi is $530 with lens) entry level DSLR's. Their systems are much larger than the others and have many more resources than the other DSLR brands.

All prices are from Amazon
