@EM > What a shallow, ignorant answer you have given. If you feel so negatively towards Egypt, why are you engaging in discussion regarding it? Please return to whatever other answers sections you were at before and stop insulting Egyptians and their country; it is not appreciated.
If you want to highlight Egypt's shortfalls, please do so in a polite and courteous manner and use proper arguments with background information and references, instead of ranting and using insults. I will not respond to your statements but actually attempt to answer the question properly.
I do not know why certain people from other Arab/North African countries make comments on Egypt like the one in your question. I only know that I love Egypt how it is and would not honestly change it in any way other than to help the poor and disadvantaged. Egypt has serious issues facing it as a nation, as do all other developing countries, but I do not feel that they are in any way as bad as how some non-Egyptians make them out to be.
Some people say such comments come from jealous people. Maybe so. What other Arab/North African country enjoys such a diverse and rich cultural heritage and associated tourist industry? What is the preferred middle-eastern holiday destination for worldwide travelers? Where do people from other Arab countries like to visit the most, whether on holiday or for business investments? Which country is now officially one of the most promising and upcoming countries for BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) and ITSO (Information Technology and Services Outsourcing) in the world? Which middle-eastern country has one of the most powerful, well trained and equipped militaries in the region? Which country in the middle east has the most respected university in the region? Which country is enjoying massive developmental investments from foreign construction companies in it's infrastructure and urban and commercial projects? That's correct, Egypt.
Maybe they are right that there is a jealously factor in there somewhere. Why else would they bother discussing it otherwise? And we Egyptians like Egypt just like it is thank you very much. If you don't like it for any reason, you know what to do.
@Nonita > Excellent answer, that's all that needs to be said!
