I want travel the us on my bike what do I need to know?

how much money should I save up? what should my sleeping arrangement be?what routes should I take to get there etc. any info on this will be great. its just one of those things I want to do. I am 18 and I just want to go out and find myself and just need to know what I need to do in preparation.
