I have been on percocett, fently patch for 6 years. I have had it. My life has changed. I am severely overweight as I sleep all the time. I do have a brain disease in which I am in horrible pain all the time. I do not know what the pain is, is it my disease or the need for pills. I take about 8-10 percocetts a day, the 10 mg. I curse the doctor who got me hooked. I went to pain management and he just couldn't give me enough. Then when I became addicted he got concerned. The bad part is my husband is a doc, so when I run out he just fills it for me. I guess you could say he is an enabler but he also sees the pain I am in. As I write this post I cannot sleep because I am in so much pain. I want to get off. I am starting a weight loss program with appetite suppressants and I do not want to add another addiction.
I want to wein off. Any ideas on how I can do this? I want my life back again.
I have 5 children and I am missing everything! What shoud I do? I am desperate!

Laura, My heart goes out to you, I don't have pain like you do, but when I decided to get off lorcet after a 10yr. addiction, I started out with a taper by cutting 1/2 pill a day for awhile and yes sometimes I would get off my taper, but when I took my last pill in a way it was a relief, the wd was terrible physically and mentally and it's still a hard battle. The fentyl patches I've heard a hard to come off and I'm sure you know it can be dangerous going ct off them. Your husband is a Dr. maybe he could help you with tapering, but with pain that bad it's hard to say. I just wanted you to know I am thinking of you and praying for you and there are alot of good people on this board with good advice, so keep posting. I know I haven't been much help, but just wanted you to know I care. May God bless and LOL, Fiesty

Hi There.
I know this may sound silly, but I think that you should try to drink a lot of natural fruit juice and eat a ton of fruits. The acid in the fruits will help boost your energy.
I do not know anything about the drug that you are on, however I think that you should turn your self into treatment. Understanding that you have 5 kiRAB, but they want their Mother alive, right?!
This way when you wean off, and need care they will know what to do.
Please let me know if your OK.
Thanks.
Neveah :)

I'm so sorry to hear about your troubles. If your husband is a Doc, then he probably knows the best process for you....Please talk to him. I agree with the previous poster in that rehab may be best, given how much you are taking, especially if you are still on the patch. Fentanyl is a very strong med given that it's in patch form, you will need medical help to take smaller dosages.

Please get some medical help. If you find that after the process the pain is still unbearable, maybe you could begin with some alternative plan that you could live with.

Take care,

Ex
