Camp Schwab is not the best base for visiting, but right outside the gate is the village of Henoko and there are a few small hotels. On the other side of the island there are several large resorts, but because of the road system, it would be a fairly long drive between them and Schwab.
You might want to go soon, the weather can be very rainy and miserable starting in November. Okinawa has beautiful beaches and great diving and snorkeling. Once the weather gets bad, there is very little to do.
