...any alternatives..? I want to make an electric bike, and I was thinking about using a treamill motor running off a car battery. I have NO background in electricity, so anyone's knowledge on this subject would be appreciated. any other ideas for a power running off the car battery would be greatly appreciated. thanks
 
You can't run a AC motor on DC. You will have to get a hub motor kit or something like that.
