drive now so I can take her out? What are the legalities in getting insurance for myself on a car which my Mum owns and is the registered keeper. I want to pay all the expenses, insurance road tax etc. She is not able to drive anymore and it is need to take her to hospital appointments. My own car is to high for her to get into.
So sorry!! I can see I haven't explained properly. I would like to take the insurance with my own insurance company in my own name.
This is my first post and I am just feeling my way about! I can't actually see (as yet) where "reply is???

I thought this would just be an easy thing to take over the burden from my Mum but was told that unless I am the registered keeper of the vehicle, my company might not insure me.
Should have said I am in UK.....sorry!!!

the vehicle must be in your name for you to be sole named insured. You can of course add your name to the title and then the insurance can be in both names, if that is a viable option for you. You can also simply be listed on her policy as principal (only) driver, if she is intending to surrender her driving license.
