I want to take French at A-level but can't at school - should I get a tutor?

I want to take A-level French having gotten an A in my GCSE's but I am unable to due to the school timetable not allowing me. Also, a main reason I wanted to take A-Level French was because we had a new teacher who was absolutely amazing at teaching. If I had a tutor and ended up not liking them would it be a waste of time? Would it be easier to find podcasts and things online or just give up totally?
Thanks :)
