The only trendy phones I'm aware of are the BlackBerry and those touch screen phones (like the iphone).

I have a BlackBerry Curve and I love it.

My husband got it through T-Mobile for $40. I refused to pay over $100 for the phone up front, so we're doing the installment plan, which is why it was so cheap in the first place--the phone's pricey, and with the "smart phones" the bill will be higher because you pay for Internet too.

Check and see if AT&T has any kind of deal like that--they probably do, as they sell the BlackBerry.
 
I'm thinking of getting a texting-capable phone, so it would definitely need to have a keyboard. What is a hip, trendy phone that won't break the bank (nothing over $50)? I don't want to start a new contract; I want to keep my existing contract.
