I want to repaint my bike, Can you give me step by step instructions on how to do so.?

I found an old bike in the dump, so I took it, and it is in desperate need of a new paint job. How do I strip the old paint off? Should I spray paint it? or apply it with a brush? I have no experience in this so all information would help.
