i want to put a sound system in my car help?

i have 2 6"x9" 2 4" for the doors, and a head unit, i want to put in a sub and amp but i done really know what the hell to put in lyk do i need 2 channel 4 channel? do i need to put the 6x9's on the amp and the door ones do they connect up to the amp or to the head unit? very confused lol
