My husband and i have been trying to come to a decision on a name for our son. I have just a few weeks left to go and we finally agreed on a name. Tatum. I mentioned it to my mom who in turn laughed at me saying its a girls name.. mainly because of Tatum O'Neal. I have done research on the name and still love it for a boy.. Do you think it is an appropriate name for a boy?

I only know it as feminine and behindthename agrees (but it may be because Ryan O'Neal thought it to be feminine and everyone hopped on the band wagon):

TATUM
Gender: Feminine
Usage: English (Modern)
Pronounced: TA-t?m
From a surname which was originally derived from a place name meaning "Tata's homestead" in Old English.

I would just name him Tate.

I hate that name.. but... sounds like a disease.. but look it up , how many boys are with that name?
Tatum Oneal is not really a popular actress so the younger generation, wont realize that its a woman name.
however, Tatum sounds very masculine... It doesnt sound feminine at all...
so Tatum wouldnt be so bad naming it a boy...

I think it is one of those names (like Jordan or Riley) that work perfect for both genders. I think it it was a boy the nickname would be Tate, and a girl would be Tay.

I think the name sounds more masculine than feminine. The name is a uni sex name, so it could go for either gender, but i think it sounds best for a boy

I have only met girls named Tatum and so to me it sounds more like a girls name than a boys name. In the USA where i live it's a much more popular girls name than boys name.

But if you like it for a boy and so does your husband than i say go for it and name your son Tatum, :)

My good friend has a daughter named Tatum,

But when I hear that name I think of Channing Tatum...which I think BOY.
Really goes either or for me.
