town stuff me wife and 6yr old? so far we have narrowed it down to somewhere close to victoria like lake williams but not much for rent their victoria is too big though around 1-5 thousand people with hills and fresh water
 
If you mean Williams Lake, it's not close to Victoria at all. Don't worry about finding hills, it's actually a bit difficult to find a part of BC that's flat. If it is, it's not far away from mountains or hills. Victoria is on Vancouver Island, and there are quite a few small towns there. How about Lake Cowichan? It's a warm lake, close to a small town and not far from a larger one(Duncan) or from Victoria
