Photography has always been a hobby of mine. And I want to major in it. I really want to work for Alternative Press Magazine, but that gets competitive.

I'm well aware that it can get expensive with all the required equipment. I'm wondering if it's really worth it. Would I really be making any money?

So I want to know if there are other options?

By the way, I'm not really interested in being a wedding photographer.

Is it a hobby or a passion? Is it a hobby that you tinker with from time to time? Or is it something you spend most of your extra time doing? If it is just a hobby, then keep it that way. If it is something you really love and are passionate about, then go for it. Perhaps major in journalism and minor in photography or vice versa..

You're best off majoring in something else, and minoring in photography. A degree isn't needed to become a photographer, and having a major in another area gives something to fall back.
