I want to join the military...how do i go about telling family?

i would like to join the US Army, and possibly make the ultimate sacrifice, dying for this country. Im 14 going on 15 and im a girl. Ive wanted to do this since i was 8, my mind is set. How do i go about telling my family this?
ya my family expects me to go to college, so i think this will be a bit of a surprise...im in great physical shape and ive talked to a recruter too...what do i tell them? how will they react?
and i know i cant enlist yet!! im waiting till im 18
 
yeah, you know...just tell them! I'd sit them down and explain that you would love to have the honor of defending the country. I'm sure they will be upset and worried but just talk it over with them. Find something else you want to do and explain how the army can pay for your education. That might help too. Definitely leave out the part about how you are willing to die for the counrty, though. I'd leave that out for a little bit, lol
