...suggestions? For some strange reason my mechanical fuel pump isn't working, and i just installed a new fuel pump. I was wondering if i could switch over to an electric fuel pump. I just put an engine in my car and i tried to start it up but its not getting any gas to the carburetor and i can't figure out why
 
You could but there is no added value and you will likely be flooding the carb. It wont be faster and you wont get more horepower.

I would recommend an edelbrock Mechanical pump. The mechanical pump will have no problem meeting your needs. Spend the money somewhere else whare it makes a difference.

Seems to me you might want to figure out why your not getting fuel before replaceing more parts.
 
You can but fuel might not be getting to the pump and if that's the case an electric one wouldn't work either.
