there is very little difference in quality between brands, regardless of price. The top dollar ones will have better brakes, etc, but it is nothing that you couldn't upgrade if you got a cheaper one.
It's not like the 80's, where you had to go to a bike store. You can get tig-welded frames in walmart now.
A BMX has fewer parts than any other bike, which makes the price differences between them so ridiculous. The best way is to ride one. Department store BMXs tend to have shorter cranks. If you are short, then it's okay.You have to see how you fit. Not everything is adjustable. Only the seats and bar height. Your steering angle, where the fork meets the frame, is something that cannot be changed. You can get different forks, but whatever.
Find the bike with the right geometry for you , and you will enjoy it. You can always change the gearing or seat later. The cranks cost a lot, so if you don't like them, you need to just get a bike that has good ones. Chances are the cost of the cranks and getting them put in will be enough to make you look at a different model.
