I want to buy an older Jeep Wrangler for $5000. What years, models are most reliable?

About any jeep is a good one, and dont worry about milage, jeeps alway seem to last forever
 
Look at the engine, if it is a I-4 or I-6 then it has a real Jeep engine.
Stay away from V-6 engines (they are GM made in most cases). GM did not make good V-6 engines for themselves and the ones they sold to Jeep were even worse.
(I think the ones to avoid are about 1980 to 1990)
