I want to buy a Panasonic Viera TC-P50U1 50" Plasma TV, but am leery of its lifespan...

...being a plasma. Help!? The picture quality is great, but I watch a lot of TV and I have heard that plasma TVs have a much shorter lifespan than LCD models. $825 seems like a very good price for a 50" set with such quality, but can it handle long hours of continuous operation?

btw i found that same tv for 560 at frys electronics, you can get a better deal.
