i want to activate a used verizon blackberry curve without the data plan?

No you will still have to pay. You can activate it but you will also be activating the data plan. Verizon will automatically know you have a blackberry

i have been told i can do this by some and others say i cannot.If i call the 228 number or whatever will it still activate my phone without the plan?
