I want off of effexor and want to be put on xanax

Have you been on Xanax? If it works for you you need to be honest with your doctor.

If it helps you live your life rather than just surviving then talk to your doctor about it.

Is there a reason why you want of effexor?

The only thing she wanted to know was how to ask her Dr. a question.
If you can respond to that then feel free to post.

She did not however ask for your opinions on either of the drugs she mentioned.

Only the poster and her Dr. can come to a treatment plan that works for her, nobody on this board can or should try to do that.
