Before anyone says htaccess directoryIndex...... I cant do it. My host only allows mod-rewrite commands in htacces file. And just so you know what level I am at, i am taking their word for it that that is not a mod-rewrite command 
so essentially the problem i have is that i want my domain to open on the main page www.mysite.com rather than the www.mysite.com/shop.php it is doing at the moment. I have a redirect index page installed at the mo but this is not ideal.
Can anyone tell me how/if possible to use mod-rewrite to solve this?
