I tried searching the forums, and tried several techniques to reinstall the software, but i keep getting stuck on the hourglass. I updated my blackberry to the newest software (8.7 i think?), then i remembered that certain carriers don't use the latest stuff. unfortunately i remembered too late, and now i can't start my phone up! i treid reloading the proper t-mobile software (8.5?) with the apploader, but i still get the hourglass. please help!!!!

this is the 8320 curve

I'm not sure what OS those are you're referring to, but
check This thread for the latest 8320 OS
and in there - there are links to wipe your device using JL_Cmder
and you will need to reinstall the OS.

Do a clean install after wipe. Hope you did a backup before your previous
upgrade attempt?

Well it means any apps, info, contacts, etc that you had on your device will not be recovered after the wipe and OS reinstall.

You should always backup using DM at least once weekly.

that sucks...i guess the only thing i'll want is my contacts, i hope i synced them on my work computer :/

i'm trying to use that jl_cmdr program, but when i download it, it asks me what program i want to use to open the php file. i searched and supposedly internet explorer should be able to open php files, but this isn't working. did i kill my phone?

edit: it asks me if i want to save or run the zip file, then it saves it as a php file?!?!

8.7? 8.5? Those don't exist for blackberry. Can you remember the exact name of the software?

When i have to download JL_Cmder it simply asks me to open with Winrar or save it. Anyway no reason to panic just get the JL_C to work and reinstall an OS meant for your BB.

i'm having a hell of a time getting this jl_cmdr file to work. i downloaded it off this forum, but it only downloads in php format...i found another file on another bb forum and that one downloads as a zip file but when i try to open it i get an error message that the file is in the wrong format??? this is getting extremely frustrating, i've now wasted about 3 hours trying to get this phone fixed

I just checked the DL from this link and the zip file saved fine....

ok i downloaded the jl_c on my work computer. not sure why it didn't work at home. but now i can't get my blackberry to communicate with the program. what order to i need to connect things/open programs, etc?

right now, i get the hourglass of death when i turn the phone on.

i can't believe how much of a pain in the *** this has become, now i remember why i never, ever update my blackberry

First thing I would try is to simply let it sit a while and see if the hourglass goes away. I have seen it take as long as 30+ minutes after an install to stop spinning!

If not, you may need to review this thread:

Your berry doesn't connect to JL_C per se. Just connect via USB, open JL_C and follow the instructions it gives you.

Hit any key to begin.
Does this device lock with a password? Y/N (hit Y for yes/N for no)
Hit the number four (4) on the PC keyboard to wipe the BB, this takes a few seconds.

Open the DTM and reload the OS, remember the DTM will say disconnected but it will still load the OS.

Good luck bro.

it worked!!!!! it took a good 20 minutes but it finally loaded the proper OS (4.5 for t-mobile)...thanks for the help guys!

so if i download the newest OS which is i think 4.7, do i just have to delete the vendor.xml file and i'm good to go?
