I unlocked a HTC Touch Pro 2 tethered to Telus, but it will not read my Fido SIM card for some reason.?

Basically, I bought a HTC Touch Pro 2 secondhand that was tethered to Telus. I bought and inserted the unlock-code for it, but the phone for some reason either will not or cannot read my Fido SIM card. Every time I try and make a call, it redirects me to the Telus' customer service options. Is there something I need to do, or is something completely wrong?
