I turned on my computer then it turned off and won't go back on?

It hadn't been on since last night so it was cool. I just tried to turn it on and then it (disc read error) then after about 3 minutes it shut off and I haven't been able to get it to turn back on. These are all new parts that I bought xmas of 2007.

take it to a computer shop, this happened to me a while back. i just put it back to default settings and then it worked.
 
First off, double check all your connections, if your getting the disk error, its either not recognizing the hard drive, or the OS has become corrupt. Go into bios and see if your drive shows up. If it does, you can try to get to safe mode, or do a repair install of windows. If nothing is happening, its either your PSU or ram, you can try swapping out ram, and moving them around.

To test the PSU (assuming the computer doesnt run), you can buy a test for it ($10), or jump it (google this).
 
there should be a clear cmos jumper somewhere on the systemboard.

get the the system to the minimum requirements. disconnect everything but cpu, minimum ram, video, and power to the system board. if it still wont post, pull the video and memory. you should get beeps.
 
It is probably a problem with the connections between things inside the computer. Check if all cords are secure in place and try again. Otherwise, ask a professional.
