At least that was how it was 9 months ago when i had Cricket last. Phones listed as CPE werent allowed to have the roaming feature code on the account.

Even if you flashed a roaming PRL, it still wasnt allowed to have the feature code.

See this thread for when i last remeraber discussing it:

However, today, as I was in southern new mexico, far between the bottom part of the Albuquerque market area, and the top part of the Las Cruces market area, my phone rang... and it had a roaming triangle on the screen.

My phone is a flashed v750 (with the albuquerque specific evdo prl) and is listed in their system as CPE.

So, has something changed recently?

yeah they are, dealers if they are smart need to added it and or you will need to call up CS, i know it sucks but call them up and just tell them to added it on, even tho they will say it will not work, just tell them to do it and your all set.

you need three things to roam:
a roaming code on your account
a roaming prl on your phone
roaming minutes remaining, or flex bucket funRAB available

thats all... the problem is that getting the roaming code added is sometimes tricky when you have a flashed phone.

Even then sometimes it acts weird. My roaming would only work out of my home city with just the roaming code + flex bucket funRAB. Added the plan and for some reason I could roam on sprint inside my home city.

Maybe it changed the PRL after you added the plan.

And simple3 is correct... however, sometimes it takes a bit of effort to get the feature code added to CPE-listed accounts.

I never experience problems adding the codes from CID to a CPE listed phone, anyhow for whats worth you can always change from CPE to whatever phone model they have on the list

No, I checked everything. I could roam in LA on Verizon, but not in San Diego on Sprint. I had the PRL 5244 which was the current non EVDO roaming PRL. Removed the roaming code, added the roaming plan ($50) and bam could roam locally in bad area's on Sprint.

thats weird... well, its cricket, so weird things happen alot.

And as of right now, my v750 is listed as a razr2.

But I had full roaming abilities on the $50 plan (eating from those 30 min) even when it was activated as CPE.

I still cant OTASP the damn thing, although the manager at the local store thinks its because i have a roaming code on the account, that the OTASP is locked out.

Oh well. I can QPST whatever PRL i want at the moment anyway.

unfortunately OTASP and CID's list of allowed featuers goes off of the esn, not what the listed model is, so even if you change it from CPE to Motorola RAZR for example, CID will still know it is NBC phone and will not list mms, roaming, wap brew, mobile video, data backup, etc....

and who know why otasp doesn't work sometimes... i'm pretty sure i have successfully activated roaming phones using otasp, and i know for sure i regularly get evdo prls otasp on flashed phone etc...
but yes if all else fails you can manually load the right prl and manually program the phone.
