...take it to the mechanic, what do ? it started leaking one night so I parked it, when i went to start to see where the leak was there was white smoke..now the car wont start..what do you think this could be

When you say white smoke that tells me you have an internal coolant leak. Most likely a head gasket if you are lucky.

well first a leak of a wtaer pump wouldnt casue a car to not start unless it was drove hot or without coolant til it stop running and good way to check for a bad water pump is open hood and look down at front of motor or lay down and slide under and look up at water pump coolant wil ldrip from a hole in center of it most of time easy to see what to do first remove radiaotr cap fill radiator when motor is cold fill over flow jug crank and lok for a leak or drive to a shop to have them check for leak will not cost much of anything to check if its a hose anyone can replace that with a screwdriver

If the engine won't "crank" (turn over), then you need a jump start to get your car to the garage. If your battery is over 4 years old, you need a new battery. Make sure to fill your radiator and overflow reservoir with coolant no matter what you do.
