I have two children, this is the first time I tested positive for GBS - I am a little worried because my midwife stated that I needed the IV for four hours before delivery so that I could get two doses of the antibiotics to insure my baby is safe - but my second labor was only 3 1/2 hours total - my mother barely made it to the hospital with any of her 4 children, and, although everyone is different, I'm concerned that I am a lot like her in this respect.
Is there something else I should do to try to insure I make it there in time? I hate to ask to be induced because I hated that with my first baby, but I'm thinking that might be the only way to insure that I get the needed IV's before delivery. Did anyone else have this problem? Maybe I'm making a big deal out of nothing, but GBS is not something I want to pass on to my baby.
I'm also concerned because I'm having a lot of pre-labor contractions, and am worried that it might take me longer to figure out that they are real verses fake just because I'm getting so used to dealing with the pre-labor contractions, which will cause me to go in even later when labor actually starts - giving me even less time for the needed IV's.
