i tapped myself on the metal bar in a lounge chair and it herts.?

when i hit myself on the metal bar it was just a tap and it has been hurting for 2 days now and it left a little red mark. What could i have passably done to my hand?
the part where it hurts is like right belowe my palm of my hand.
