I take pictures of the animals at the Humane Society, what can I use as a backdrop?

I take studio pictures of the adoptable animals at the Humane Society. The photography program is volunteer run, but we’ve had reoccurring problems with backdrops. Fabric backdrops are usually destroyed when the volunteers put them in the Humane Society laundry not realizing that EVERYTHING must be bleached, or volunteers take them home to wash them and they never return. Aside from this there are issues of sanitation (excited puppies).

I was thinking of getting a plexiglass backdrop, but being as they are clear it wouldn’t exactly make for appealing pictures. Is there some sort of vinyl film or contact paper that can be easily applied to the plexiglass and removed on occasion to change up the colors? I’ve seen some with adhesive, but a residue would mean that our plexiglass would not be reusable.

Details:
The space is really small, we have a table right now that approximately 2’ x 4’ and a wall behind that would need about as much coverage.
This is a volunteer run program. I'm not the only photographer. It has the be user friendly, most of the volunteers are not professional. The just show up, get the animals on the list, and take pictures with the camera provided.
