And he says there are some problems with the gaskets in the car and that their mechanic says that there was an additive added in the gas.

First of all-when the guy came to buy the car, we let him take the car to a mechanic and check it out. The guy did that and came back to us and said the mechanic said everything was fine and that the car is in good condition, ect.
He buys the car and ended up getting a really good deal for it- we sold it to him for $2400- when really we should have asked $2700 for it.
Two weeks later he comes to us and says all that he said about the gaskets and how there was an additive in the gas...blah blah and said we tried to rip him off!!
I can say for sure that we NEVER added an additive to the gas and that we had no idea about the gaskets! Why did the mechanic not catch this? We were completely open with this guy we sold the car to, and I am very upset that he would judge my character like that and think I would try to screw him over like that! He apparently wants his money back...
What would you do if you were in my situation?
Yes, I had him sign a "AS IS" contract because that is what I read to do online to sell a car.

Some ppl are just douche bags no matter how nice you are. If you already let him take it to someone BEFORE he bought it, and NOTHING was found wrong then too bad for him. He bought it. If he wanted 12 opinions before then he should've talked to you then about it.
It is frustrating when you buy a car, and then find things wrong w/it...but it's life. It's not the first time this has happened to a person. Does he think he's buying a brand new car from a dealer? It's his responsibilty now unless you had some legal warranty written up w/him.
I'd say sorry, but it's done. And tell him to not come back.

Anytime a vehicle is purchased from an individual it is sold as is. You have no legal or moral obligation to do anything. Had he bought the vehicle from a dealership, they would not have done anything for him either because a vehicle that cheap would have been sold as is.

There nothing you have to worry about He took it to his mechanic and he was happy .Still did he show you any paper work from his guy he took the car to..Watch Joe Brown and the rest of the Judge show And you'll have the answer You want
