I smoke weed, I am going on accutane, will THC show up in my monthly blood tests?

I have mild to moderate acne and I am thinking about doing accutane. However, I am still a minor and I smoke marijuana leisurely. Not at all a pot head or anything. Going on accutane requires you to have monthly blood tests to make sure everything is going alright. Will the THC show up in those blood tests? Or do they not test for that kind of stuff? If they find it will they tell my parents?

I don't really care if my parents know I have smoked weed before, but I just want to be prepared in case it shows up in my blood tests.

If you'll be having the 10 Panel lab tests done, then it will show up. It all depends on what is checked off on the lab sheet itself - and what their testing for. The use of Accutane might cause a contraindication with the pot - which could make it less effective or cause some serious side affects in combination.

If it's found, your doctor might talk to you about it first and encourage you to tell your parents. You're a minor, and in some states it's mandatory for a doctor to disclose this info to the parents or guardian of the minor. Something you might want to research first in your state.

No when they draw your blood they are checking for the levels of accutane in your system, they would have to order a SEPERATE blood test for THC AND wouldn't do so without your knowledge or for a reason. You can always ask the lab in a general way what labs are required and how many viles of blood are needed and what exactly is being checked. They can answer for you.

Also even though you are a minor you still have doctor/patient confidentaility. It's a law. He can't say anything to your parents without your consent or WITHOUT medical reasoning. He would discuss with you first the risks, if it were to still be an issue he then could talk to your parents.

Honestly though, I just had 9 viles of blood drawn for my doctor for various check-ups. Non indicated marijuanna use. They weren't checking for it. So RELAX, unless AN ORDER SPECIFICALLY for it is ordered you're in the clear!
