whining? from atheists about being "persecuted." Please describe when, how and the severity with which you have been persecuted. Have you been unjustly imprisoned, personally known any atheists who were executed for their belief, or been denied any human rights by your government?
Armless, gay marriage is not the issue, I'm talking about atheism. Are you saying all gays are atheists?

I won't go into details, but my brother was discriminated against at his place of employment because he's an atheist. He won a judgment in state court.

"...or been denied any human rights by your government?"

I want to marry my partner.

EDIT: Banning gay marriage is the result of a religious group - Christianity. Therefore, if you want to marry someone of the same gender, you ARE being denied your rights and are being persecuted (by your defintion) by a religion that is not your own. So, yes - Christians are trying to deny human rights to me, an atheist, for not believing Christian belief that homosexuality is an abomination.

EDIT 2:

persecution (noun)

- persistent mistreatment of an individual/group by another group

Yes, I've been mistreated persistently because I'm an atheist.

You have a very narrow view of what persecution means. It can also mean being forced by law to acknowledge a God through laws, money, sayings, and public displays on public land. It can be state constitutions which forbid you from holding public office. It doesn't just mean imprisonment and execution.

Watch them...
Why wouldn't we care?

7 US states ban atheists from holding political office. 4 states ban atheists from testifying in court. Tax money is used to fund organizations that do not allow atheists to join, such as the Boy Scouts. George H. W. Bush said, while on the campaign trail in 1987, that he believes atheists should not be considered citizens, much less patriots. Several of my friends that went to war with me (I was an Army Ranger during desert storm) have been denied government aid that was in our initial contracts since they have let it be known they are atheists.

I can do this all day, and for probably more than one day, before I run out of examples of theistic bigotry. Shall I continue?

I have never said I was persecuted. As far as I know, it is mainly religious people who complain about being persecuted simply because others do not share their beliefs.

However, since you ask. I cannot run for political office in my state because there is a law against atheists holding office. Is that fair?
