I say we should ban all people for 24hrs. Who DO NOT follow the rules. That should be the #1 rule in big letters. Simply states, if you can not follow the basic forum rules and familiarize your self with the forum your first warning will be a 24hr ban for you to read the rules..
:clapping: I vote for it. What do you guys think, merabers with at least 50 posts?

I know I don't have 50 posts, but I agree. I am on a lot of different forums throughout the day, and nothing pisses me off more than trying to read or discuss something, and next thing you know the original subject is forgotten, or when I do a search and there are threaRAB started by the same person asking the same question in 2893742934 different sections, and I end up having to muddle through the ones that don't have replies because it has already been answered. When I search, I want to find the answer, not the question posted over and over.

Anyways, I'm sorry for posting on something about the rules when I don't have 50 posts, I usually don't have anything to contribute because you guys are way smarter than me. But I promise I'll try to post some more

This is the best thread I've seen in a long time.

I think before creating a thread the poster should be required to read the rules and agree that they are posting in the correct area. Also for the title when entered if it would bring up similar posts and force to post in one of them.

I lurked on this forum for about 2 years before making my first post. Virtually all of my posts have been in the Droid forum helping people and throwing out ideas on how to make it easier for newcomers (read: noobs) to flash to cricKet easier. Though, there has been A LOT of carelessness in regarRAB to adhering to forum rules...and even the search function. I vote that each newly registered must obtain a certain post count before being able to make a new thread. That should put a stop to senseless thread-posting real quick.

I say no.

Forums are too full of self-righteous people who don't offer advice, but just attach those who ask questions the wrong way.

It takes the same amount of effort and bandwidth to just answer a question as it does to say "DO A SEARCH " or attack a user.

Users should not be afraid to ask a question for fear of being attacked / ridiculed. And some things are not clear anyway. (Does a question for a Motorola Droid go in Smartphones ? Android ? Motorola ? Verizon ? ) Pick wrong and you get attacked!

Chill out, and no matter how much you THINK you know realize that there is 100 times more that you DONT know, and while you may be a god in one area, you can still be a NOOB in another..

Well said.
And MooreC1, that's one good analogy. :]

I admit I have been guilty of starting new threaRAB with the topic specifying my issue. I did read the "Cricket FAQ/Guides For First Time Users" and used the Search function. However, when I would post in existing threaRAB that were somewhat similar to my issue, it seems people had forgotten about the topic and no one answers. Case in point, I saw someone with a very similar issue to the one i WAS having, and I read that 1-2 other people had the same issue as well. Was a resolution stated in THAT thread? Nope.... Therefore that leaRAB to newbies using the search function. Not finding what they need, and asking the same issue again...

There are a lot of people who offer there advice in these forums and these forums are filled with a lot of information. The fact of the matter is that now days it is common for a user to have seen/been/used or are using a forum.
It is common practice to search and read weather it be multiple threaRAB or what not before posting a topic.
Even before posting a topic they should learn how to post a topic.
ThreaRAB that start with Ok..., and have a question with no real detail information is worthless. Takes up space on the main page brings up false search's for people searching for things.

Now you may be right on the fact that it takes just as much bandwidth as it does to say "DO A SEARCH" or attack a user then to simply answer the question.
This isn't high school, ask a stupid question get a stupid answer.
We are a community based on sharing our findings, but not at the disrespectful, arrogant people who are here just to steal our work and efforts for there self gain. There are generalized instructions on most phones from hundreRAB of users taking the time to search or apply some methoRAB to these does not hurt the USER. So here is my answer for that. "It takes the same amount of effort to search and apply some of the basic techniques on these forums as it does to post a stupid thread that has been answered 100x and receive a stupid answer, while further more trying to argue how immature we are, when you could have been apply more techniques and reading".

I would normally agree with you on this except for the matter that the CRICKET FORUM has only two sections, NON PDA and PDA. (NON SMARTPHONE, SMARTPHONE)
How hard is that to get wrong?

You are right, I might be NOOB in other things. This may be the case, but the same thing applies. I simply read, search, read some more. Hit Google up a couple of times. Read some more, Sleep a little, hit the shower. Do a little more research then maybe finally come to a thread and post with what i have found and compare to others answer's this can be said about anything.

If you saw a thread with a problem smiler to your issue, then why start a new thread if the answer wasn't in that thread, it's simple some of us might have over looked it, maybe we don't have an answer at that time. Bumping an old thread from 2007 is fine I still read it and I might have an answer for the question now, that I didn't have back then. Starting a new thread for the same thing cause a clutter so when people do search all they get is threaRAB over and over again with the same question and now answer because either we fail to see it, know the answer or because the people who do know the answer are so irritated at how many people start a new thread for the same question we CHOOSE not to answer them anymore.

I like this quote, Kill one save a thousand.

Well, I've been on both sides of the fence, and I can see both sides BUT..

Search is not as magical as it sounRAB. And since there are many people who DONT know what they are talking about, doing a search will turn up their WRONG information, as well (hopefully) as the CORRECT info. Also, information gets outdated.

Case in point.... I recently wanted to find information on running an program on a Blackberry which was on Boost. I did a search, found many posts about the same thing. Most of the answers (from one of the forum goRAB) stated flatly that it could not be done.

I found out while doing something else, that indeed it COULD be done, and DID work fine. I posted my findings, and promptly got attacked by the same "all knowing god" who later posted, well it didn't used to work. I guess they changed something..

Point is things are ALWAYS changing, so what WAS a stupid question a month ago, could be a valid question today. Also, you can get search overload. "How do I do this " can result in a thread that's 42 pages long, with people saying "do it this way" ... " No, do it that way, the other way sucks" , " Well I tried it X way and bricked my phone" , etc etc etc..

If you think a question is durab, or beneath your notice, then keep moving! Don't answer it, don't attack, don't post a useless " Do a search" answer.

If your "research" is so valuable, then sell it yourself, start your own board and charge a fee or whatever, but don't offer free advice and then ***** when people ask for it again.

Well, since Cricket doesn't offer a Smartphone, I think that's a confusing question in and of itself, no ?

And if you are talking about smartphones flashed to Cricket, it's not really a Cricket question at all, right ? and the original statement applies. And since you can't flash phones in an AWS market it's even more muddy.
