I saw a black duck with a fish like tail?

I was at the Busselton park about three months ago, and we went to the lake where all the ducks were.
When I spotted my eyes on a black duck with a fish-like tail!
I couldn't believe it! no other duck looked like it, and it kept diving in under water, then you would see these bubbles making a path then the duck would pop up again!
Do you know anything about this duck, and have you seen it before?

i wish i could have taken pictures of it, but i didn't have my camera with me at the time.
 
maybe the thing is demented. maybe its mother got fertilised by fish, cause fish lay eggs in water and the male swims over it sprays his "magic". maybe that duck was near about taking in some of the magic while chasing after food in water.

lol, sounds far fetched,
