I recently worked for a business that payed me cash...?

I didn't fully understand how this worked at the beginning. He told me that it wasn't illegal and that we'd both be making more money that way. Looking back it was very ignorant of me. I worked there nearly a year and in the end he screwed me over. I worked probably 350 hours of overtime for him that he didn't pay overtime rates for, and I know there's probably nothing I can do about that now, but I do want to report his business. How can I go about that?

It is not illegal to pay in cash.
You should have kept records of your gross pay and the hours you worked each week.
Anything over 40 hours should have been paid at time and a half.
You would then be able to file a tax return without a W-2 and paid all your taxes yourself.
Your employer did not pay his share of your social security and medicare taxes and you lost credit towards your S.S. retirement benefits.
About the only thing you can do is report him to your state dept. of labor-wage and hour division.
They should investigate your claim and obtain any unpaid wages for you.
You should also start looking for a new job as I don't think you will work there much longer unless he paid all employees in cash.

File form SS-8 with the IRS asking for a determination of whether you were an employee or an independent contractor.
