I recently paid off 3 credit cards and paid off a car loan; I have poor

credit..will this improve my score? My husband and I have poor credit (mine worse than his) due to being financially irresponsible in the beginning of out marriage (about 6 years ago). Basically, we could not afford our lifestyle and used low limit credit cards as loans, got payday loans, etc. HORRIBLE financial mismanagement. Our next step is to pay off collection accounts (about $3000) between the 2 of us. I alone was using 90% of my available credit...now I am using 37% of available credit; and making on time payments. Will this help my score go up? I know this is a process...my credit score before paying these items was 550 -- ouch! Thanks for any help!
