running even worse.? Before I made the changes, my truck was running pretty well. In doing a routine plug change though, I noticed that one of the connectors inside the plug wire was broken. Yesterday I changed the plugs and just left the one with the broken connector as it was. It ran the same as always. Today I bought new plug wires and replaced them all (one at at time as to avoid getting mixed up). When i finished and cranked it up, it began sputtering and shaking and I noticed a strong smell from the exhaust. Any ideas?
The firing order is 1-4-2-5-3-6 and I know that my engine starting in the front left and going back is 1, 2, 3 then on the right 4,5,6. How is the distributor cap numbered though? Example http://autorepair.about.com/library/firing_orders/bl-fo-3865.htm
I have found the order on the coil tower and verified that all are connected properly with the corresponding cylinder. Still sputtering. Could the new wires be bad?
